The Role:

  • Ensure prompt placing of orders with suppliers and ensure project managers and QS are kept up to date on delivery
  • Source and order suitable materials as per site requirements
  • For unusual or bespoke items, get minimum 3 quotations
  • Checking supplier delivery dockets against deliveries, checking rates and advise for final approval on payment list
  • Ensure coding is accurate for internal reporting
  • Placing orders with agreed suppliers, providing an approved list to the site manager
  • Maintain monthly reports on material purchases, maintain and update the database
  • Maintain monthly reports on preliminary items, skip hire, labour hire, plant hire etc
  • Collate all materials data for the project
  • Liaising with site management on supplier requirement.
  • Management of plant hire, hire/off hire
  • Other ad hoc duties relevant to the role
  • Raise POs for purchasing materials


This role would suit a candidate with previous purchasing experience or someone with previous accounts experience with an interest in the area of purchasing/construction.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Experience in an admin/purchasing role in the construction industry
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions within a fast-paced environment
  • Have the ability to multitask, prioritise, meet deadlines and manage time efficiently
  • 3rd Level Qualification in admin/purchasing preferred
  • Excellent IT skills are a must for this position, specifically Excel & Outlook
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
